Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar to Head Minimal Invasive Surgery Centre of Excellence

The Symbiosis International University (SIU) will soon have a tie-up with the prestigious Harvard University in the US for its minimal invasive surgery centre of excellence that is slated to come up at the Lavale campus, 20 kms from the city.

Vidya Yerawadekar, principal director of Symbiosis, said, "The minimal invasive surgery technique through laparoscope was becoming more popular and had a huge scope in future." Symbiosis decided to start the centre in this backdrop and will commence the courses in January 2011."Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar, the leading city doctor in laparoscopic surgeries and medical director of Galaxy Care Hospital, will head the centre", she said.
